Ääreen Project ANIDOX Workshop

Oodi Central Library in Helsinki

The workshop will be conducted by media artist Marko Tandefelt (FIN) together with ANIDOX tutor Uri Kranot (DK). Other lecturers include Jaakko Kemppainen, regional artist specialising in game art, and Hanna Haaslahti, media artist.

In October 2021, animations will take over the presentation facilities in Oodi. The Kuutio venue will host results from the idea workshop, while works by animation students at Aalto University and curated animation performances will be featured on other surfaces in the library. Open workshops will invite visitors to participate, and Kino Regina will host lectures and film screenings.

Ääreen project is part of the Arts Promotion Centre’s development programme for artistic expertise and mediation. In collaboration with Oodi Central Library, Turku Animated Film Festival, Finnish Animation Guild, Artists’ Association MUU, Promotion Centre for Audiovisual Culture (AVEK), Aalto University, National Audiovisual Institute KAVI, and ANIDOX.

    Director, animator, filmmaker, teacher. Born 1975. Graduated from Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem. Master of Fine Arts from Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design in Budapest.

    Kranot is behind numerous award-winning animated shorts and VR projects, co-directed with his partner Michelle. Prominent titles include 'Hollow Land' (2013), which was on the Oscar shortlist for best animated short, and 'How Long, Not Long' (2016), which won the FIPRESCI prize at Annecy. Michelle and Uri Kranot are also behind the VR projects 'Nothing Happens' (2017), 'Songbird' (2019) and 'The Hangman at Home' (2021).

    Uri holds various positions at The Animation Workshop in Viborg, Denmark. Working with the Bachelor education, professional training and in research & development.
